Long before two decades in technology, and before I worked inside a large ed tech company, a book was the thing that showed me a life beyond the one I was born into. I have never forgotten that. A child who reads well carries a quiet security into adulthood: the freedom to learn anything, question anything, and go anywhere. I want that for every child.
That belief is why Literacy Path exists.
For years I watched schools work hard to raise reading scores. Teachers gave assessment after assessment. Reports piled up. And still, something was missing. We could tell a teacher how well a child read. We could not tell her whether that child wanted to read at all.
That gap matters more than we admit. A student can decode every word on the page, close the book the moment the bell rings, and never open another by choice. Scores tell you what a child can do. They say very little about what a child will do next.
Motivation may be one of the strongest predictors of whether a child becomes a lifelong reader. Yet almost no one measures it. That is the gap I could not stop thinking about.
So I set out to build the tool I wished teachers had. Not another test. A platform that grows a child’s reading skill and their motivation to read at the same time, and lets a teacher see both.
Literacy Path is a reading platform for Grades 2 to 5. It builds skills the way strong programs do, with practice matched to each student, in English and Spanish, aligned to the TEKS. It also does something few tools attempt. It measures reading motivation, so a teacher learns not only how a student reads, but how that student feels about reading.
When a student’s motivation starts to dip, the teacher sees it early, while there is still time to do something about it. That is the difference between noticing a reader in trouble and finding out at the end of the year.
And it does this without adding to a teacher’s plate. No new prep. No steep climb to get started. The platform handles the practice, the personalization, and the next step, so teachers can spend their time teaching.

We put educators first in every decision we make. Teachers are stretched thin, and the last thing they need is one more thing to manage. So we built for their Tuesday morning, not for a demo.
We want to make reading accessible to every child, in every classroom, including the students a busy room can quietly leave behind.
And most of all, we want to grow lifelong readers, not just better test scores. Success, to us, is not a number on a report. It is a child who chooses a book on her own, long after the bell rings.
We are starting in Texas, with our sights set on every classroom across the country. We know we have a lot to prove. But the belief underneath all of it is the same one I began with. Teach the kid, not the level. Grow the want, not just the skill.
